Push notifications on iOS require a PhoneGap plugin, which we don't support yet on PhoneGap Build. It's something we're currently looking at integrating.

@lawgurl - the push notification plugin uses Apple's system, and the equivalent ones on Android and (I believe) BlackBerry.

We're really hoping to get some work on plugins done when everyone's back in the office for the new year. Push notifications and child browser seem like the two in highest demand, so I'll be aiming to get those into shape asap.

I'm very interested in an iOS/Android solution via PhoneGap, so I'm holding my breath :) I realize I may suffocate using this strategy, but the thought of learning Obj-C/Java and dealing with 2 new dev environments (I'm sure Google's will be as fun as nails on a chalkboard while being lit on fire) is just too painful to bear.

We just released support for our first plugin, the ChildBrowser:
https://build.phonegap.com/blog/child...

We'll be moving forward on future plugins very soon.

Unfortunately, the upcoming PhoneGap 1.5 release will require the existing plugin code to be modified a bit to work correctly, so we won't be able to start moving forward until that release is complete.

Chiming in on this one. I think I speak for most people in here when I say a non-universal solution would be acceptable - i.e., iOS/Android. That covers so much of the market, it would at least allow us to reach enough customers to stay alive and competitive.

Can we just get some kind of update? Even if it's "We're not doing that right now," at least we'll know where we stand.

Push notifications will be a supported plugin on PhoneGap Build; we do not have a date when it's ready. When the plugin is ready, it will be announced here on community.phonegap.com, on build.phonegap.com/blog, and on twitter.com/PhoneGapBuild

We do not have an ETA right now. PhoneGap Build is still in beta; we will have a public roadmap once the service is released.
